七年春王三月，叔姬归于纪。滕侯卒。夏，城中丘。齐侯使其弟年来聘。秋，公伐邾。冬，天王使凡伯来聘。戎伐凡伯于楚丘以归。
In the third month of spring of the seventh year, my uncle and concubine returned to Ji. Teng Hou died. In summer, there is a hill in the city. The Marquis of Qi asked his younger brother to come and hire him. In autumn, the public attacked Zhu. In winter, the King of Heaven sent Uncle Fan to hire him. 七年春，滕侯卒。不书名，未同盟也。凡诸侯同盟，于是称名，故薨则赴以名，告终嗣也，以继好息民，谓之礼经。
In the spring of the seventh year, Marquis Teng died. Without the title of the book, there is no alliance. When the princes allied themselves with each other, they called them names, and when they died, they went to use their names to end their heirs, so as to continue the good and bring peace to the people. This is called the Book of Rites.
七年春季，滕侯逝世，《春秋》没有记载滕侯的名字，是由于没有和鲁国同盟的缘故。凡是诸侯各国缔结过同盟，就彼此把国名向神明报告，所以当国君死后则在讣告上也写上名字，这是为了向同盟国报告国君逝世和继承的人，以便继续过去的友好关系，并以此安定人民，这是礼的大法。

初，戎朝于周，发币于公卿，凡伯弗宾。冬，王使凡伯来聘。还，戎伐之于楚丘以归。
