三十有一年春，筑台于郎。夏四月，薛伯卒。筑台于薛。六月，齐侯来献戎捷。秋，筑台于秦。冬，不雨。

三十一年夏六月，齐侯来献戎捷，非礼也。凡诸侯有四夷之功，则献于王，王以警于夷。中国则否。诸侯不相遗俘。
In the summer and June of the thirty-first year, the Marquis of Qi came to offer Rong Jie, which was not polite. If the princes have merit from the four barbarians, they will be dedicated to the king, and the king will serve as a warning to the barbarians. Not so in China. The princes do not leave prisoners to each other.
三十一年夏季，六月，齐桓公来鲁国奉献讨伐山戎的战利品，这是不合于礼的。凡是诸侯讨伐四方夷狄有功，就要奉献给周天子，周天子用来警戒四方夷狄；在中原作战就不这样。诸侯之间不能互相赠送俘虏。
